Pride of Uttar Pradesh in Sports

Ritik Pandey

Age – 13

District –Moradabad

Achievements:

Ritik Pandey belongs to the Fakeerpur Slum Area in Moradabad where children normally do not have big dreams or passions. Children aren’t the adults’ first priority either and therefore their education, future plans etc. are lost in everyday struggles and poverty. SARD is implementing holistic development Programme in this area and Ritik is member of Children group made by SARD. We find that in spite of the socio economic circumstances Ritik dared to dream and that too about a very unconventional sport- “Boxing”.
Ritik used to watch his elder brother practice boxing every day and that inspired him to start sparring himself. Gradually, a SARD teacher and community worker encouraged him to polish his skills, which led to him winning a Silver Medal at District level.
Ritik is a very lively and enthusiastic child. He lives with his parents and 3 siblings. His father is a daily wage earner. He loves his family a lot and wishes to fulfil his mother’s dream of watching him become World Champion, above all keeping his passion alive against all odds.
